PolaTape™

PolaTapeTM is a low cost yet highly reflective thin film tape. It is designed for use in the cryogenic industry and is known for its excellent adhesive properties. It is particularly useful in applications where reducing thermal heat transfer is a major consideration. PolaTapeTM is commonly used to bond a variety of polymer and metallic surfaces in cryogenic applications where a strong, reliable bond is needed. Some specific examples of where it may be used include:

  • Bonding and attaching PolaPairTM, PolaWrapTM, PolaLamTM, and AstraWrapTM
  • Repairing and reinforcing plastic and foil interfaces
  • Closing out insulation blankets

PolaWrap™

PolaWrapTM is a custom prefabricated layup of insulation material that is designed for use in the cryogenic industry. It is available in 10 foot lengths and with custom widths up to 86 inches. It is sold in standard layer combinations, but can be customized with different numbers of reflector layers to meet the specific needs of a given application. It is intended to provide excellent insulation performance in a variety of cryogenic environments. Some specific examples of where it may be used include:

  • Wrapping cryogenic piping
  • As a base for custom cutting shapes to be applied to cryogenic equipment
  • Production of MRI machines and NMR Cryostats

PolaLam™

PolaLamTM is a specialized cryogenic material that is designed to provide enhanced durability and ease of handling. It is similar to the product PolaPairTM, but is combined as a laminate in order to provide increased tear resistance and ruggedness. Despite this added durability, PolaLamTM does not significantly sacrifice thermal performance. It is available in standard lengths of 100, 200, and 500 feet, or can be customized to meet specific applications. PolaLamTM can also be custom slit to any width needed. PolaLamTM is ideal for use in a variety of cryogenic applications where enhanced durability and reliable thermal performance are important considerations. Some specific examples of where it may be used include:

  • Spiral wrapping pipes
  • Inboard and Outboard Layer of cryogenic stackups
  • High abrasion or sharp corner locations

AstraWrap™

AstraWrapTM is a specialized insulation material that is
designed for use in a variety of aerospace applications. It is a prefabricated layup consisting of multiple layers of thin, high-performance polyester film separated by lightweight, low-conducting polyester netting. The polyester film is coated with aluminum on both sides for enhanced thermal performance. This combination of materials creates a product that is able to effectively insulate against a wide range of temperatures while still being lightweight and easy to handle. AstraWrapTM is available in lengths of 10 feet and custom widths of up to 54 inches, and can be customized with different numbers of reflector layers to meet the specific needs of a given application. In most space applications these reflector
layers are perforated for venting. Some specific examples of where it may be used include:

  • Spacecraft bus structures
  • Scientific and mechanical instruments on spacecraft
  • Rocket insulation
  • • Deep Space Probes and landing craft
